Council OKs Omni project, refinancing The Onalaska Common Council approved $110,000 in spending on the Onalaska OmniCenter to make year-around ice possible, with much of the cost offset by savings from refinancing OmniCenter debt, also approved at Tuesday’s monthly meeting.

Schools give big to Pennies for Peace Onalaska and Holmen students and teachers’ contributions toward the regional Pennies for Peace campaign accounted for about $6,600, or 15 percent, of the total raised by students in more than 45 area schools.
Onalaska’s high school and middle school jazz bands got a chance to shine Monday in their annual spring concert, and they had a special guest. John Paulson, a music professor at Saint Mary’s University in Winona who has played with such luminaries as Bob Hope, Mel Torme, Johnny Mathis, Andy Williams and the Temptations, sat in with high school band on flute and saxophone. OHS senior Nick Love, standing in the photo above, got a chance to show his chops on "Birdland" with guitarist Ryan Burton.
